During the holidays, with all the different ages of your guests, it can be hard to find things to occupy them and keep the younger children interested for any length of time.
I wanted to share a few fun, laugh-generating games to assist you:
- Charades – some ideas:
- Christmas gift shopping
- Shoveling heavy snow
- Sitting on Santa’s lap telling him what you want for Christmas
- Hanging lights on the house
- Kissing under the mistletoe
- Christmas caroling
- Hanging stocking on the fireplace mantel
- Memory Game – Place 7-10 small items onto a tray (example: bottle opener, bottle cap, ornament, spoon, etc.). Bring out the tray for the group to look at for approximately 2 minutes. Then cover the tray with a tea towel. Ask everyone to write down what they remember from the tray (give them about 2-3 minutes). Once the time is up, reveal the items on the tray and see who remembered the most!
- Who Am I? This guessing game keeps everyone laughing for hours. Each player is given a sticker for their forehead with the name of a “person or animal” written on it. Each person takes a turn at asking the others questions about who they are, but they can only answer “yes” or “no.” The person will then guess who they are.
- Christmas Movie Bingo – Please see the link for printable pages. https://myfreebingocards.com/movies/christmas/christmas-movies/edit
- Message Under a Plate – If you’re the host or hostess, write a phrase or word on a piece of paper and put it underneath each plate before they arrive. The idea is to slip their word or phrase into the table conversation until someone notices.
- Plastic Wrap Gift Game – Wrap small gifts, ornaments, candy, or cash, in a giant ball of plastic wrap, passing it around. Each guest gets a chance to take off one layer of plastic wrap, and they get the surprise in that wrap, which sometimes there is nothing.
- White Elephant Gift Exchange – Each guest arrives with a wrapped gift (something they were given and couldn’t use or didn’t like or a gag gift – something to make you laugh).
- Holiday Share-a-Story – Start by creating a sentence related to Christmas or the Holidays. The following person repeats your sentence and adds a sentence of their own. It continues until the sentence can’t be repeated correctly.
